We are a group of three enthusiastic pediatric stem cell transplant nurses. Our group was established in 2008 and we are dedicated to improving the care of pediatric HSCT patients.
In order to promote, develop and share knowledge and experiences, our main activities are focused on education and research.
We actively participate in the EBMT Annual Meeting. We read the pediatric abstracts, organize the pediatric sessions and have the best pediatric oral presentation and poster grant for a couple of years. We collaborate closely with the Pediatric Diseases Working Party in organizing the annual pediatric educational meeting for pediatricians and pediatric nurses. This year we will have an exciting program in the PDWP’s Educational Meeting on Hemoglobinopathies in November in Regensburg.
Last years, we worked with the PDWP on our studies on ‘Safe transfer of pediatric patients from hematopoietic stem cell transplant unit into the pediatric intensive care unit: views of nurses and physicians and ‘Specialized Pediatric Palliative Care Services in Pediatric Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant Centers’. Currently, we collaborate with our colleague Mihaela Hartman from Vienna on a study on prevention and management of conditioning- related skin toxicity in pediatric HSCT patients. The clinical problems we face in our own practices are our motivation to put our effort into working on these projects. The collaboration with passionate colleagues from abroad makes the work even more attractive.
If you would like to become involved in the activities of our group, or if you have ideas for future projects or other queries, please contact us via the EBMT Office.
