Nurses Group Activity Report 2025
Major achievements
In line with its mission, the EBMT Nurses Group (NG) continued to strengthen and connect the global community of nurses and allied health professionals working in Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HCT) and Cellular Therapy (CT), now representing 1120 members across 65 countries. Throughout the year, the NG delivered a wide range of educational and collaborative activities designed to advance practice and share expertise.
The 51st Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Florence was a major highlight, bringing together 650 registered nurses and showcasing 197 submitted abstracts. The education programme centred on the four pillars of HCT and CT nursing: Clinical Practice, Research, Education, and Leadership. The second edition of the Next Generation Session stood out as one of the most well‑attended sessions of the meeting.
In October, the 17th Educational Meeting of the EBMT Nurses Group in Nantes, France, held in close partnership with the French Nurses Group, was another success. Nurses’ tracks were delivered at the EHA-EBMT 7th European CAR T-cell Meeting (in collaboration with the HNHCP) and during the 10th International Transplant and Cellular Therapy Course. EBMT Working Party meetings throughout the year further highlighted the essential contributions of Working Party Nurses through nurses’ sessions, tracks, or presentations.

For the first time, the NG also contributed to Practice Harmonisation & Guidelines, leading a workshop on the role of palliative and supportive care in HCT and CT.
A fifth translation of the EBMT Textbook for Nurses was published in 2025, supported by the Polish National Nurses Group and DMKS, and the Preparatory Course for the 2026 NG Exam was successfully launched.
International collaborations continued to grow, with monthly webinars and activities with colleagues in South Africa and Sri Lanka, and other partner societies.
Three expert‑led educational videos were developed, covering bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy, the insertion and management of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs), and the thawing and infusion of cryopreserved stem cells and CAR T‑cells.
