Message from the President - April 2019

by

Dear EBMT friends and colleagues,

this 45th Annual Meeting of EBMT in Frankfurt was an exciting record breaking event, with more than 5640 attendees from 94 countries around the world listening and discussing the latest results
in stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies such as haplo-identical stem cell transplantation, CAR-T Cell therapy Genome-edited hematopoietic stem cells, and cutting edge topics in stem cell biology, Graft versus Host Disease, late complications and novel non cellular based immunotherapies which were presented by 456 speakers in more than 183 sessions.

The new successful format of the Patient, Family and Donor Day on Sunday, as well as the launched of the 1st Transplant Coordinator Day were very well received and reflect our intention to give patient a stronger voice and to include all health care providers who are involved in the field of stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies into - what many called- the “EBMT family”.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all who worked hard and contributed to the success of the meeting, especially the Local Organizing Committee under the leadership of Peter Bader and Thomas Klingebiel who created together with the Scientific Council a compelling program and provided a warm hospitality in Frankfurt.

Please take your time, and enjoy reading this Post Congress Bulletin, with the different reports and presentations, as well as looking to the photo gallery and the different EBMT TV videos to remember this memorable unique EBMT 2019 Annual Meeting.

I hope to see you at one of our numerous forthcoming educational events and at next year Annual Meeting that will take place in Madrid from the 22nd to the 25th of March 2020.

Thanks for your trust in EBMT!

Nicolaus Kröger
EBMT President
