Cellular Therapy & Immunobiology Working Party (CTIWP)

It has been a great privilege being the EBMT CTIWP nurse. I started in the role in 2017, since then there have been significant advances in cellular therapy and I have been fortunate to have been involved in a number of exciting projects. I was approached to be the lead author of the EBMT CAR-T Nursing Guidelines, which have been accepted for publication and will be published in the coming months. I have also been fortunate to have been an author on the recent EBMT/EHA CAR-T Best Practice Recommendations, A further highlight has been my involvement in the set up of the soon to launch EBMT Immune Effector Cell Nursing Network.

Additionally I have attended and presented at numerous conferences and study days, both face to face and, more recently, virtually due to the pandemic. This has offered me valuable learning opportunities and enabled me to network with colleagues around the world.

The EBMT Nurses Group have been incredibly supportive of the role, as has the WP chair. If you are considering applying for a role as a WP nurse I would say go for it! It has been one of the highlights of my career to date and a wonderful professional development opportunity.

Ruth Clout will be taking over and will do a fantastic job I’m sure. I look forward to hearing how she continues to develop the role. For now though I will be focussing on a brand new challenge, the birth of our first child, due later in February.
