The recent resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic, driven primarily by the Delta variant, is leading to almost daily changes in local, national and institutional travel restrictions. We realize individuals and organizations may be impacted by one or several of these restrictions.

After much review, dialogue with key stakeholders and considerable evaluation of the evolving situation, ASTCT and EBMT announced on August 28 our joint decision to postpone the 2021 Joint ASTCT-EBMT Basic and Translational Scientific Retreat to May 25-27, 2022 in the same location, Vail, Colorado.

While we were very much looking forward to this valuable educational event for our international community, the health and safety of our constituents is of utmost importance. Additional information will be forthcoming.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Please note, the abstract deadline has been extended to 11:59 PM CT on Friday, 28 January 2022.

The 2022 Joint ASTCT-EBMT Basic and Translational Scientific Retreat will be accepting abstract data/research highlighting the best of basic and translational science. Due to the overlap in abstract submission and notification timelines for the 2021 ASH Annual Meeting and 2022 Tandem Meetings, we will be accepting abstracts with incremental advances. Those who submitted abstracts to the 2021 Joint Scientific Retreat are encouraged to submit data for the 2022 Joint Scientific Retreat.

Abstract Submission Criteria

Abstracts will be scored based on the following criteria:

  • Importance and Relevance: Is a clear rationale for the work provided? Does the study address an important question? Do its findings have the potential to advance the field of blood and marrow or cellular therapies?
  • Originality and Innovation: Is the work novel? Does it present new findings and/or address a problem using an original or improved approach?
  • Quality of Methods and Writing: Are methods well described and valid to answer the question? Is the abstract clear and well written? Is the abstract within the 300-word limit?
    • Please note that the abstract submission form does not have a tracker for word count. We recommend that you prepare your abstract submission in a Word document to confirm that you stay within the 300-word limit.

The top-scoring abstracts will be selected as Oral Platform Presentations; top-scoring abstracts that are not selected for Oral Platforms will be selected as Distinguished Posters.

Responsibility of Abstract Authors

The Presenting Author is responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that all authors have read the abstract and agreed to be co-authors.
  • Notifying all co-authors of any additions, deletions, and changes to the program, as may be communicated by the Joint ASTCT-EBMT Basic and Translational Scientific Retreats.
  • Obtaining all of the conflict-of-interest disclosure information from co-authors.
  • Making certain that abstracts are complete (tables included and labeled) and written in clear, concise and grammatically correct English, so that reviewers are able to focus solely on the scientific merits of the submission. For authors with any questions regarding the clarity, grammar or spelling of their abstract, we encourage identifying and using an independent reviewer to edit the abstract prior to submission.

You must be logged in to your ASTCT member or guest account in order to submit a session. If you are not logged in, you will not see the track options to select and begin your submission.

Figures/Images/Graphs

There is no limit on the number of figures, images, or graphs. We recommend saving them all within one document and uploading in the "Files" section for the Review Committee.

Session Description/Abstract Details

The contents of your abstract should be submitted in the text box titled, "session description".

I've submitted my abstract, now what?

If your abstract is accepted, lead investigators will be notified and will be given instructions to register. Registration will open to the general public once all lead investigators have completed their registration and please note, registration to this meeting is limited to 100 attendees. Selected data and/or research will be showcased at the poster sessions and "best-of" oral abstract session.

Start making plans to join us in Vail, Colorado from 25-27 May 2022 and present your research on cutting-edge basic and translational biology.
