Nursing Research Committee

The Research Committee (RC) is a subgroup of the EBMT Nurses group, comprising five nurses being active in research and in clinical settings from various European countries, including Annika Kisch (SE), Isabel Salcedo (ES), Lynn Leppla (DE), Sabine Valenta (CH) and Simona Calza (IT). A new junior membership within the RC is vacant: we are currently reviewing applications and hope to be able to introduce a new RC Junior member at the Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Glasgow.

Our main objective is to develop and support research projects, to raise awareness and education in nursing research, to facilitate and support active participation in nursing as well as interdisciplinary studies related to stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy in Europe.

Our RC meets online once a month together with our Study Coordinator Brian Piepenbroek and our Statistician Jarl Mooyaart, and we have in-person meetings twice a year, with very stimulating and challenging discussions.

In recent months, we have been involved in various research activities: Proposals have been reviewed and projects started. We are currently working on a survey on research priorities/care needs from patients’, caregivers’ and health care professionals’ perspectives. We would be delighted if you could give us your feedback on this topic at the Annual Meeting in Glasgow, you will find a QR-code in various places.

For the upcoming 50th Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Glasgow, we’ve prepared exciting sessions, where we hope to meet you, including a selection of high standard research oral communications and a research workshops entitled: “Crafting effective research tools: survey creation and interview guide development” – “How to create a survey” and “How to develop an interview guide”: Kindly mark your calendars for April 16th, 11:00 AM – 12:30!

In late September 2023, we organized the 15th Nurses Educational Meeting in Madrid, in partnership with the Spanish Nurses Group. The event proved immensely successful, drawing 119 attendees hailing from a multitude of European nations! Presently, the RC is collaborating with the Italian local organizers for the 16th Educational meeting of the Nurses Group, which will take place in Naples on the 26th-27th of September, so save the date!
