On the 25th November 2023 and for the first time ever, a JACIE Inspector training course took place in Istanbul. It was jointly organised by the Turkish Society of Haematology and JACIE/EBMT and it had the participation of fourteen trainees who joined us from Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Macedonia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and United Kingdom.
Trainees completed the e-learning modules on the Accreditation process and the FACT-JACIE Standards prior to attending this one-day workshop, which mainly focused on the practical aspects of the inspection process.
We were fortunate to have four experienced inspectors İlknur Kozanoğlu, Ender Altiok, Meltem Kurt Yuksel, Songül Tepebaşı to join the workshop as speakers. They shared their expertise and knowledge on the practical challenges and shared their tips to guarantee a smooth Inspection.
Our trainees will now complete an exam on the Standards relevant to their specialist areas and attend an inspection as an observer before they join the JACIE pool of active inspectors.

Sinju Thomas is Lead Apheresis Nurse Practitioner and Collection Facility Director for Apheresis in Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Her current expertise is collection of HPC for HSCT, gene therapy and immune effector cells. She has 23 years of experience as registered nurse in Haemato-oncology /stem cell transplantation, haemoglobinopathy and 16 years' experience in leading and managing an apheresis unit. She is curious, goal-oriented, team focused, and data driven, and has taught and presented in Trusts, nationally and internationally. Sinju shares with us her experience.
"I have decided to do this course to increase my knowledge of the accreditation process and also increase my knowledge of HSCT journey of the patients. It has been very useful for me. I would like to highlight the dynamic of the sessions, very active, interesting, and well organized and great to share experiences. It was also a great opportunity to meet new people from different parts of the world and learn from them. I have made few friends also.

Your selfless contribution and tireless efforts were essential in ensuring the event smoothly and successfully. I am looking forward to completing my post exam and to attending my first inspection to further improve my experience and start a new chapter of my professional life.
