The EBMT and the European Hematology Association (EHA) are delighted to invite you to participate in the 6th edition of the jointly organised European CAR T-cell Meeting, taking place in Valencia (Spain) from February 15th to 17th, 2024, as a hybrid meeting. This extraordinary event stands as the biggest meeting of its kind in all of Europe, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it.

Format

This is a Hybrid meeting, which can be attended in person or virtually. The emphasis lies on in-person participation in the programme, but most sessions will be live-streamed via a virtual platform for those who can only follow the programme remotely.

Target audience

The target audience is haematologists, oncologists, physicians, nurses, data managers, supply chain managers and patient organisation representatives.

Abstract/Case Report Submission

Abstract / Case Report submission. 

The deadline to submit your abstracts is December 4th, 2023 23:59H CET.

Abstract submission is an important part of the EBMT-EHA 6th European CAR T-cell Meeting. As a participant, you will have the opportunity to submit an abstract or case report for this meeting, and (if accepted) have the possibility to discuss it with the international faculty and your peers.

Introduced in 2021 and after 3 editions, we are excited to announce the 4th Emerging Investigators EHA-EBMT Joint Fellowship Awards in the Field of Cell Therapy and Immunotherapy 2024. Submitters under 40 years old at the time of the submission is sent, can apply for this award and the Scientific Programme Committee will select 3 winners. Winners will receive 10 000€ and the opportunity to present their work on Day 1. Find more information here.

The submission is restricted to young investigators (under 40 years old at the time of submitting their abstracts).

All selected applicants will be notified on December 12th 15th, 2023. 

They must be able to travel to Valencia, Spain, for the meeting to present.


Please note that the submission of an abstract/case report constitutes a formal commitment by the author to attend the meeting in Valencia (if the abstract is accepted) and, if required, present the abstract as an oral presentation or Poster in the session and the time assigned by the Scientific Programme Committee.

Oral presenting authors of accepted cases will be allowed to register with the Early Bird registration discount fee, for which the details will be shared in the acceptance letter.

All other authors wishing to attend the meeting should register before the 5th of November 2023 to make use of the early registration fee. 


Guidelines for the abstract/case report submission:
  • Text 300 words max
  • They can be structured (e.g. Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions). 
  • Mention all the authors
  • Disclosures of the authors
Topics for case reports:
  1. Clinical case on Lymphoma
  2. Clinical case on Adult/Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia 
  3. Clinical case on Multiple Myeloma
  4. Clinical case on other indications 
Topics for abstracts:
  1. CAR-based Cellular Therapy – Preclinical:
    1. engineering, expansion, and optimisation of CAR-T cells for preclinical cell therapy research;
    2. in vitro and in vivo (animal models) assays to functionally evaluate produced CAR-T cells, including direct tumour killing/activity, cytokine production, and memory responses;
    3. pre-clinical and mechanistic studies of the toxicities of these therapies.
  2. CAR-based Cellular Therapy – Clinical:
    1. clinical investigations into therapeutic applications of CAR-T cell in oncology and other fields, adult/pediatric indications;
    2.  challenges of CAR-based cellular therapy (improving effectiveness, CAR-T cell persistence and reducing toxicity of the therapy);
    3. diagnosis and treatment of toxicities (early and late).

Nurses Abstracts

Please note that the submission of an abstract/case report constitutes a formal commitment by the author to attend the meeting in Valencia (if the abstract is accepted) and, if required, present the abstract as an oral presentation or Poster in the session and the time assigned by the Scientific Programme Committee.

The selected abstract presenters will be integrated into the nurses' sessions on the 16th of February. Nurse abstract main presenter will be awarded free registration to the event.

All other authors wishing to attend the meeting should register before the 5th of November 2023 to make use of the early registration fee. 

Submission Requirements:

Oral: A 5-minute ‘flash talk’ style oral presentation by the author

Abstracts must contain brief but complete statements of:

  • Background/Significance
  • Methods
  • Results/Findings/Outcomes
  • Discussion and practice implications, impact and/or usefulness

Some additional information:

  • Abstracts are accepted in English only
  • Abstracts must represent original work
  • Work should be completed and not “in progress”
  • The maximum word limit for Abstract title is 10 words (excluding spaces)
  • The maximum word limit for Abstract text is 300 words
  • Abstracts must be submitted through the submission portal
  • There can be only 1 Presenting Author
  • The first author must be the Presenting Author
  • There is no limit to the number of co-authors
  • Include disclosures of the authors

The EBMT-EHA 6th European CAR T-cell Meeting provides opportunities for students, trainees, nurses and others to join the meeting for a discounted fee. 

It is also possible to register a group from your institute or company to join the meeting. If you would like to register a group (10 or more persons), please contact education.events@ebmt.org.

Please keep in mind that data managers, patients, patient advocates, nurses and students (medical residents are not considered to be students) will need to provide proof of their status, in the form of an ID or a letter from their institution during the registration. Patient advocates should provide a screenshot of their membership.

Press registration

Press accreditation and registration is required to attend this meeting. Press registration is free and includes complimentary meeting registration. If you wish to register, please send an email to communication@ehaweb.org and/or communications@ebmt.org with:

  • a copy of your press credentials,
  • a letter of assignment from the media organization being represented,
  • two bylined medical/health/science articles published within the last 6 months.

Your credentials will be checked and when approved, you will receive a confirmation.

Name changes

Name changes are permitted up to 15 days before the start of the meeting. Please note that after that date a fee will be required to process the name changes.

Cancellation of registration

In the event of cancellation, it must be processed in the registration system. The following refund conditions shall apply:

  • In case the cancellation is received by the organizers 30 days or more prior to the beginning of the meeting, your registration fee will be reimbursed in full (minus bank charges).
  • In case the cancellation is received by the organizers between 15 and 30 days prior to the beginning of the meeting, 50% of the registration fee will be reimbursed (minus bank charges).
  • Cancellation notified less than 15 days prior to the beginning of the meeting will not be reimbursed.

Travel

EBMT cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to private property of participants. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.

Please also make sure that, at the time of travel, there are no restrictions barring you from entering Spain. 

EBAH-CME Accreditation

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is widely accepted to encourage individual practitioners to maintain and develop professional knowledge and skills keeping up-to-date with latest developments within the field. The meeting will be accredited by the EBAH system. Participants of this meeting are eligible to receive one Continuing Medical Education (CME) credit point for every hour of accredited activity from the EBAH system.
