Update on JACIE Certification Process in Spain from 2026

Since 2016, Organización Nacional de Trasplantes (ONT), the Grupo Español de Trasplante Hematopoyético y Terapia Celular (GETH), the European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), and Fundación CAT (FCAT) have maintained a formal collaboration agreement that includes a joint JACIE-FCAT certification programme for centres authorised for the collection, processing, and transplantation of haematopoietic progenitor cells in Spain.

Considering the upcoming changes to the European regulatory framework, and to align the JACIE certification process in Spain with that applied in other countries, from 2026 onwards applications from Spanish centres will be processed exclusively under the JACIE certification process.

This change does not affect certifications already in progress. If your Centre has already commenced the certification process under the joint JACIE–FCAT process, it will be completed according to the established procedures.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank FCAT, ONT, and GETH for their collaboration over these years, and to reaffirm our continued commitment to supporting high-quality transplantation practice in Spain.
