Stavroula Chante, Lead Chemotherapy Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner, The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust
‘I am currently working as the Lead Chemotherapy Nurse and Advanced Nurse Practitioner within my organisation, and I am responsible for improving patient outcomes, by educating the cancer nursing workforce, providing strong leadership, and implementing changes across the cancer services. I have been specializing in Lymphoma for the past 6 years, and I was overly excited to see that the Lymphoma Working Party Nurse position became available within the EBMT. I have been welcomed by the LWP team and the broad nursing EBMT community from the very beginning. Since joining the LWP early this year, I have been lucky to work alongside some extremely experienced clinicians in Lymphoma, who are willing to advice, guide and teach. My participation has significantly improved my knowledge around the latest treatment modalities, enabling me to provide individualised high-quality care to all my haematology patients. I was also honoured with the opportunity to join the EBMT LWP Educational Course this October in Munster, Germany, where I met and discussed my area of interest with other professionals in this field. Low and high grade non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, stem cell transplantation as well as current clinical trials and drug approvals were some of the themes covered on the meeting, with speakers attending from different European countries. This is a prestigious course and a worthwhile investment for those interested in Lymphoma. I aim to attract more nurses in the course next year, by embedding lymphoma sessions tailored to nursing audience.’
