Paediatric Diseases Working Party (PDWP)

The Nurses Group Paediatric Committee has had an inspiring and eventful year, filled with diverse activities that brought together paediatric nurses from across Europe. Representing the UK, Finland, and the Netherlands, our small but dedicated committee worked to support learning, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing across borders.

Educational Meetings in Málaga & Wrocław

We kicked off the year with two successful educational meetings.

  • Málaga, Spain hosted a deep dive into CAR T-cell therapy, offering valuable insights into this innovative treatment (read the event report here).
  • Wrocław, Poland followed with sessions on pre-transplant care, supportive interventions, and managing complications (read the event report here).

Both events created opportunities for European nurses to learn from one another, exchange experiences, and grow their networks.

Presence at the Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Florence

Our paediatric sessions at the Annual Meeting in Florence were very well attended. Expert speakers from the UK, Spain, and the Netherlands led engaging discussions on cultural differences in care and advanced care planning, highlighting the importance of understanding diverse family needs and values in paediatric settings.

“How Do You Do It…” Online Sessions

We also continued our online series, “How Do You Do It…”, where nurses share and compare approaches to everyday challenges in paediatric HCT care. Topics included:

  • Discharge after stem cell transplantation
  • Central line care
  • Pain management strategies

These sessions promote practical learning and collaboration between transplant center  bringing us closer together in our shared goal of improving care.

A survey will soon be sent out to help plan and create future “How Do You Do It...” sessions. Your opinions will be of great value.

Looking Ahead

We remain committed to fostering professional connections, empowering nurses through education, and embracing collaboration across Europe. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we look forward to continuing these activities!
