Chiara Giacon, Registered Nurse & Quality Manager Stem cell transplant unit, IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo, Pavia, Italy.
"I am delighted to join the Chronic Malignancies Working Party (CMWP) as a nurse representative, with the aim of translating daily clinical experience in haematology into research-driven initiatives that can improve patient-centred care and nursing practice.
Throughout my clinical experience, I have worked with patients affected by both acute and chronic haematological malignancies, while also being actively involved in quality improvement, education, and research activities. My professional and research interests focus on improving patients’ quality of life and enhancing the quality of nursing care through evidence-based practice.
I applied to the CMWP because I strongly believe in the importance of creating a bridge between research and everyday clinical practice, ensuring that scientific evidence is translated into tangible improvements at the bedside. During my professional journey, I have witnessed the significant impact that supportive care and patient-centred nursing interventions can have on patients’ outcomes and overall well-being, which has deeply shaped my approach to care.
As a CMWP nurse, I am particularly motivated to collaborate with colleagues across EBMT on research and educational initiatives, contribute to nursing-focused projects, and promote nursing empowerment within multidisciplinary teams. I look forward to working together to advance high-quality, patient-centred care for people living with chronic haematological malignancies."
