Following the release of the FACT-JACIE Standards 9th Edition HCT and 3rd Edition IEC Standards in November last year, JACIE has now released the Standards Update Exams on the EBMT elearning platform. As the FACT-JACIE Standards evolve, it is essential that inspectors remain familiar with new requirements, revised expectations and changes in interpretation that may impact the inspection process.
The examination covers key revisions and concepts introduced in the current editions of the standards. Questions are designed to assess both knowledge of the updated requirements and the ability to apply them in an inspection context.
The exam consists of 2 parts:
Part 1: Inspection Process, techniques and common standards:
The first part must be completed by all inspectors and is an exam based on the JACIE Inspection Process, Techniques and Common Standards.
Part 2: Area Exams:
The second part consists of up to 4 exams depending on the experience of each inspector:
- Clinical
- Collection
- Processing
- Quality Management
All inspectors will complete at minimum 2 exams and a maximum of 5. Please complete the exam for the area for which you qualify to inspect.
For instance:
If you qualify to inspect only in the clinical setting, you should complete (1) the Inspection Process, Techniques and Common Standards and (2) Clinical Standards exams.
If you qualify to inspect processing and collection, then you should complete the (1) Inspection Process, Techniques and Common Standards, (2) Collection and (3) Processing Standards exams.
A minimum score of 80% is required in each exam you complete.
Before beginning, we encourage you to review the relevant standards and supporting educational materials. The examination should be completed independently and reflects the knowledge expected of active JACIE Inspectors working under the current standards framework.
