On 24 June 2026, FACT-JACIE hosted a Quality & Accreditation workshop as part of the World Bone Marrow Transplant (WBMT) meeting in Panama, bringing together international experts to explore the standards and processes underpinning quality haematopoietic cell transplantation and cellular therapy.

The programme opened with Joseph (Yossi) Schwartz setting the scene with a general overview of the FACT-JACIE clinical, collection, and processing standards. Eugenia Trigoso Arjona (Hospital Universitari i Politècnic La Fe) then addressed the core principles of quality management in cellular therapy, covering documentation, internal audits, CAPAs, and data management — the operational backbone of a functioning quality system. Nina Worel closed the first session with a comprehensive walkthrough of the FACT-JACIE certification process from start to finish, giving attendees a practical A–Z roadmap.

The second session turned to real-world implementation, with Juan Carlos Oliveres Gazca (Clinica Ruiz, Mexico) sharing lessons learned in achieving FACT-JACIE certification under resource constraints, and Cesar Homero Gutierrez (Universidad Autónoma Nuevo León) presenting on the initial steps toward accreditation drawn from successful experiences in low- and middle-income countries.

Together, the sessions underscored JACIE's central contribution to advancing quality standards globally; not only through the rigour of its standards themselves, but through the practical, hands-on guidance it offers centres navigating the certification journey, including those working with limited resources. The workshop reflected JACIE's growing international footprint and its role as a trusted partner to transplant programmes worldwide.
