International Nurses Day (IND) was celebrated this year on Wednesday the 12th of May with a new theme, ‘Nurses: A Voice to Lead – A vision for future healthcare’. For this occasion, Eugenia Trigoso Arjona -a Paediatric Nurse at the Hospital La Fe (Valencia, Spain), JACIE Inspector and Chair of the EBMT Global Education Committee- participated in a Podcast organised by the Lancet Haematology to voice her opinion and experience on a variety of topics relating to nursing.

In this podcast (availble in both English and Spanish) you will hear Eugenia explain what this special day represents to her as a practising nurse and educator. As well as learn her views on how the role of haematology nurses has evolved throughout the past decades with the advent of immunotherapies, cellular therapies and gene therapy revolutionising patient care.

Eugenia, together with the EBMT Nurses Group, has been instrumental in organising educational HSCT nursing events in low-to-middle income countries (LMIC) and thus helping in delivering quality care in these LMICs. Listen to the whole podcast to hear the initiatives of the Global Educational Committee plus the highlights of Eugenia's role as the Chairperson in the Nurses Group Global Education Team.

In addition, the EBMT Nurses Group, in recognition of International Nurses Day, wanted to give thanks to the nursing community and encourage our community to share their experiences from this past year via Twitter. Participants joined the chat on 12 May 2021 by posting the hashtag #EBMTNGCHAT on Twitter and tagging @TheEBMT and @TheEBMT_Nurses in their posts.
