The Quality Managers Committee (QMC) has, for the last couple of months, been dedicated to working to create inspiring sessions for the Quality Management Day and Meet the Expert sessions at the Annual Meeting of the EBMT in 2026.
In this process, the QMC has evaluated the Quality Management programme at EBMT in 2025. The topics of the Meet the Expert sessions covered daily Quality Manager tasks: risk-based approach to quality improvements, and managing audits and adverse events, as well as the sessions covering JACIE certification knowledge: “First time for JACIE Accreditation” and “IEC Accreditation: extending the scope or a standalone accreditation”. The Meet the Expert sessions were all well attended and were evaluated as a great opportunity to share best practices with colleagues dealing with the same challenges, as well as a networking opportunity. Because of the large number of participants on the waiting list for the 2025 session, the QMC is working to increase the number of seats at Meet the Expert sessions in 2026.
The Quality Management Day at EBMT 2025 programme was inspired by both the 9th edition of the FACT-JACIE Standards and Manual, JACIE inspection challenges, IEC standards, and the results of the QMC/GoCART survey: “Operational Burden and Fragmented Implementation in CAR T Cell Therapy” and “How to sessions…” including topics such as validation, written agreements, audits, and outcome.
The QMC also had the pleasure to present Anna Sargent (United Kingdom) as the winner of the best Quality Management Abstract Award in 2025 for the abstract titled: “Quality improvement through digitising exceptional release: Standardisation for unpredictability”.

In 2025, the QMC received 26 abstracts in the field of Quality Management. While the number remains modest, the quality and relevance of the submissions were noteworthy — a reminder that your work has a potential to be recognised and make an impact. Abstracts are a meaningful way to share tasks, resolutions, projects and results with the international EBMT community.
The topics for 2026 will be released soon. We encourage you to consider submitting an abstract, as it is a great opportunity to contribute to the Quality Management Day programme through an abstract presentation. Stay tuned! The Annual Meeting 2026 Website will open on Monday 8 September.
