EBMT statement on travel concerns and member support

As an international and diverse community, the EBMT recognises that some of our members may face challenges or concerns when travelling to certain countries due to personal characteristics such as ethnicity, beliefs, disability, gender or sexuality. Unfortunately, there are increasing reports of travel-related difficulties in regions that were previously considered welcoming.

The EBMT remains committed to its mission of advancing care for patients with blood-related disorders through the promotion of knowledge in haematopoietic stem cell transplantation and cellular therapy. Achieving this mission relies on the full participation of all our members, and we place the utmost importance on their safety and wellbeing.

We fully respect and support each individual’s decision about whether to submit abstracts to or attend meetings based on their personal circumstances and the location of the event. The EBMT will continue to stand behind our Working Parties and members, whatever decision they make. Likewise, ensuring equal opportunities for all members is of paramount importance. If a member presenting their work on behalf of the EBMT is denied entry to a country, the EBMT will make every effort to provide them with an opportunity to present their work at one of our meetings.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our shared goals.
