The EBMT Nurses Group welcomes 2020 as International Year of the Nurse

by

The Director General of the WHO Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus officially announced that 2020 would be the Year of the Nurse, as nurses are the ‘Bridge’ of healthcare. They are a crucial link with the community and the complexity of a healthcare system. Nurses are always the ‘frontline’ and he stated that because of this they are the key factor in achieving universal health coverage, which is an initiative of the WHO to bring adequate healthcare to humans across the planet.

Dr Ghebreyesus expressed how the role of the nurse shall be ‘amplified and promoted’ and to celebrate this by honouring the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale in 2020.

The EBMT Nurses Group is pleased to be able to announce that Stratos Chatzixiros from the WHO will be opening the 36th Meeting of the Nurses Group on Monday 23rd March 2020 in Madrid and speaking about the valuable input that nursing has in the field of transplantation.
