Today, on International Nurses Day, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of nurses around the globe. The International Council of Nurses’ (ICN) theme for 2025 is "Caring for Nurses Strengthens Economies" This theme shows how important nurses are, not just in healthcare but also in the economy.

Nurses are the heart of healthcare. They give care and support in the most challenging situations. For patients undergoing Haematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT) or Cell Therapy, nurses are essential. They provide medical and emotional support, making sure patients get the best care possible.

The ICN emphasises that investing in nurses' health and well-being is key to a strong economy. Healthy and supported nurses are more productive, stay in their jobs longer, and help patients achieve better outcomes. This leads to more efficient healthcare systems and economic benefits.

Nurses face many challenges, including physical, mental, and emotional stress. It's important to invest in a sustainable workforce well-being, such as adequate staffing and skill mix, fair and competitive compensation, wellbeing support, safe working environments, and opportunities for professional growth. This improves nurses' lives and creates a strong healthcare workforce.

As the EBMT Nurses Group, we understand the importance of our role in caring for patients undergoing HCT and Cell Therapy. Our skills in managing highly complex treatments and providing holistic care are invaluable. On International Nurses Day, we recognise the significant impact we have on patient care and the healthcare system.

Caring for nurses is the right thing to do and a smart investment in our future. By supporting nurses, we strengthen healthcare systems, improve patient outcomes, and boost economies. On this International Nurses Day, let's commit to valuing, protecting, and investing in our nurses, so they can continue to provide excellent care.

Today, we celebrate International Nurses Day and our dedication to the work we love. Be proud and celebrate. Happy Nurses Day!
