As stated on the EBMT website, the Scientific Committee is a dedicated group of experienced nurses from across Europe with specific expertise in haematology and stem cell transplantation/cellular therapy. Together, they bring a wealth of perspectives and experience—from nurse specialists and coordinators to ward, apheresis, and outpatient nurses. As the autumn season unfolds, we are delighted to bring you the latest news from the EBMT Nurses Group Scientific Committee.

Preparations for the 52nd Annual Meeting of the EBMT in Madrid have already begun before the Summer holidays. Together with the SC members and the local nurse co-chairs, Julia Ruíz Pato and Isabel Salcedo, we are inviting both local and international speakers. Collaboration with other Nursing Committees, the National Nursing Chairs, and the Working Party Nurses continues to enrich the programme and ensure that up-to-date, relevant topics are included.

In early September, several of our members participated as chairs or speakers to the 10th International Transplant and Cellular Therapy Course in Barcelona. It was a fantastic opportunity to refresh and expand our knowledge in the field of transplantation (Read the event report).

Following the inspiring 17th International EBMT Nurses Group Educational Meeting in Nantes, we had our annual Board Meeting together with colleagues from the Nursing Research Committee, Paediatric Committee, and Global Education Committee.
It is always rewarding to exchange experiences with fellow transplant and cellular therapy nurses from across Europe. We are deeply grateful to EBMT for fostering these professional connections and friendships.

Within our committee, we are proud to include a Next Generation Nurse Representative, serving as the voice for the next generation of transplant nursing leaders. Are you a young nurse interested in shaping the future of our field?
Applications are open until Friday 31 October 2025! (Read more here)

In January, the SC will meet again to review all submitted abstracts from nurses and allied healthcare professionals eager to present their research, nursing projects, or practice developments in the field of haematology and stem cell transplantation during the Annual Meeting of the EBMT. We strongly encourage you to submit your abstract—the submission period is now open! (Learn more about Abstracts Submission)
Perhaps we will see you and your selected abstract in Madrid 2026?!
