Education Report 2025
EBMT Advances Education in HCT and Cellular Therapy
EBMT has established a dedicated Education Department to coordinate and expand its educational activities in alignment with the priorities defined by the Scientific Council. This initiative reinforces EBMT’s commitment to continuous professional development, addressing knowledge gaps, promoting best practices, and strengthening international collaboration in HCT and CT.
Core Curriculum and EBMT Examination
A key component of EBMT’s educational strategy is the development of a structured core curriculum for HCP. As part of this initiative, the second edition of the EBMT Exam for physicians and the first exam for nurses will be held during the 52nd EBMT Annual Meeting in Madrid, providing healthcare professionals with an opportunity to demonstrate their expertise in this rapidly evolving field.
To support candidates, the Online EBMT Exam Preparatory Course has been updated, offering a comprehensive review of key topics together with exam-style questions designed to facilitate preparation.
Educational Resources and Collaborations
EBMT continues to expand its educational resources while strengthening collaborations with partner societies across clinical, basic, and translational research communities.
In collaboration with EHA and the GoCART Coalition, EBMT released the second edition of the EU CAR-T Cell Handbook, an open-access resource covering scientific advances, clinical applications, and regulatory aspects of CAR-T cell therapies. Reflecting rapid developments in the field, the updated edition incorporates new products, indications, as well as evolving treatment algorithms. The handbook was presented at the 51st EBMT Annual Meeting in Florence and is freely available online.
The EBMT Handbook, continues to be widely used as a reference for transplant professionals and remains available as an open-access digital publication. Complementing this work, the updated manuscript “Indications for Haematopoietic Cell Transplantation for Haematological Diseases, Solid Tumours and Immune Disorders: Current Practice in Europe” was published open access in Bone Marrow Transplantation.
Practice Harmonisation and Guidelines Workshops
The Practice Harmonisation and Guidelines Committee Workshops continue to support the development of recommendations across EBMT.
The third edition, held in September 2025, included workshops organised by several Working Parties, the Nurses Group and a joint harmonisation initiative between the ADWP of EBMT and ISCT, with more than 15 manuscripts currently in preparation. The previous editions, held in Lille in September 2024 and 2025 resulted in 14 published recommendations and guidelines. The next edition is planned for September 2026.
