“CAR T-cell, Cellular Therapies and Immunology in Autoimmune Diseases”

1st Joint Educational Meeting of the Autoimmune Diseases Working Party (ADWP) and the Cellular Therapy and Immunobiology Working Party (CTIWP) of the EBMT, which will be held on October 2024 in Milan, Italy.

The programme will cover all aspects of innovative cellular therapies, particularly CAR-T cells, in relation to the pathophysiology and therapy of autoimmune diseases, including current and future indications, immunological mechanisms and novel targets.

Moreover, current practical challenges, early and late complications, infections, technologies (eg. new CAR-T cell strategies) and area of unmet need in relation to transplant and conventional treatments will be widely covered in this context.

A multidisciplinary approach is key in this field, and this educational meeting will bring together most of the world’s leading experts, actively contributing to the evidence base and professional guidelines in the field, who will present their most recent work and describe the expected developments in the near future.

In keeping with the scientific and educational scope of the meeting, the meeting will give delegates & sponsors the chance to lively interact and network with experts in the field.

EBMT Travel Grants

EBMT is thrilled to announce a special travel & accommodation grant programme aimed at enhancing participation, fostering inclusivity, and advancing education within our Educational Meetings. This initiative is designed to empower individuals who may face financial barriers to attend our events and to ensure that diverse voices are heard.

Grant Details

The grant will be paid after attending the meeting and will cover the maximum reimbursement for travel and accommodation expenses incurred by participants.
In addition, recipients will receive a registration fee refund.

Travel Grants amounts

  • 2 grants x 1000€ each for European participants
  • 2 grants x 2000€ each for non-European participants

Application Requirements
To apply for the grant, interested individuals are required to submit the following documents:

  • CV (Curriculum Vitae)
  • Letter of Motivation
  • Case Report Topics (Do not forget to check the programme and see where the case will be allocated for in-person presentations)
    • Pathophysiology and novel therapeutic targets 
    • Novel CAR technologies and indications
    • Late complications after cellular therapies

Selection Process
The selection of grant recipients will be conducted by the Organisers of our event. Candidates will be evaluated based on their merits and the quality/relevance of their work.

Timeline

  • Submission Deadline: 30 June 2024; 23:59 CEST --> 14 July 2024; 23:59 CEST
  • Selection communication: 10 July 2024 --> 21 July 2024
  • Confirmation from selected participants deadline: 17 July 2024 --> 23 July 2024

Registration Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be electronically mailed or postmarked by using the option “Modify registration”.

Refund of registration fees will be as follows:

  • In case of cancellation, up to one month prior to the beginning of the meeting, your registration fee will be reimbursed in full (less bank charges).
  • If the cancellation is notified between 15 and 30 days prior to the beginning of the meeting, 50% of the registration fee will be reimbursed (less bank charges).
  • Cancellations notified between 1 and 15 day registration fee will not be refunded.

Certificate of Attendance

After the event, you will receive an email with a short survey to evaluate the course. After the survey is completed, you will be able to download the certificate of attendance.

How to reach the venue

By Public Transportation

  • Metro green line (M2) to Cascina Gobba station and shuttle by automatic light railway service to Ospedale San Raffaele station (additional ticket required as ATM tickets and travel passes are not valid). This light railway operates from Monday to Saturday, first departure from Cascina Gobba at 6:40h and last departure from San Raffaele at 20h. On Sundays and public holidays (except under special circumstances) first departure from Cascina Gobba at 13h and last departure from San Raffaele at 20h.
  • Metro green line (M2) to Cascina Gobba station, followed by ATM Bus No. 925 towards Milano Due (same ticket)

When the light rail is out of service, you can use bus line 925. It departs from the square of Cascina Gobba station and stops in Via Olgettina, in front of the hospital entrance.
Scheduled Frequencies of the Light Rail:
— From 6:40 to 8:00: every 7–9 minutes
— From 8:00 to 10:00 and from 16:00 to 18:00: every 6–8 minutes
— From 10:00 to 16:00: maximum 10 minutes
— From 18:00 to 20:00: 10–15 minutes

Required Ticket:
— The return ticket costs €1.30
— It is valid only on this light rail, not on other lines
— Validate the ticket at the beginning of your journey
— After validation, the ticket is valid for 24 hours

Where to Buy Tickets:
— At ticket offices in metro stations
— At automatic ticket machines in the light rail lobby

Passengers with disabilities:
— Wheelchair users can enter through a gate with an intercom. On board, they can use a designated area with safety anchors.
— Passengers with visual impairments have access to a path that leads from the station to the door of the central carriage.
 

By Air

Milan Linate Airport (LIN)

  • ATM Bus No. 923 towards Ospedale San Raffaele, last stop
  • Taxi — 15/20 minutes

Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP)

  • “Malpensa Express” train to Milano Cadorna Railway Station (last stop), then Metro green line (M2) to Cascina Gobba and shuttle by automatic light railway service to Ospedale San Raffaele station (additional ticket required as ATM tickets and travel passes are not valid).
  • Shuttle buses from the airport to Stazione Centrale Railway Station, then Metro green line (M2) to Cascina Gobba and shuttle by automatic light railway service to Ospedale San Raffaele station (additional ticket required as ATM tickets and travel passes are not valid).
  • Taxi — 40/60 minutes

Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY)

  • Shuttle buses to Stazione Centrale Railway Station, then Metro green line (M2) to Cascina Gobba and shuttle by automatic light railway service to Ospedale San Raffaele station (additional ticket required as ATM tickets and travel passes are not valid).
  • Taxi — 30/45 minutes

By Train

Milano Stazione Centrale

  • San Raffaele Congress Center can be reached in 15 minutes by taxi or with metro line 2 green (M2) to Cascina Gobba and shuttle by automatic light railway service to Ospedale San Raffaele station (additional ticket required as ATM tickets and travel passes are not valid).

Milano Cadorna

  • San Raffaele Congress Center can be reached in 25 minutes by taxi or with metro line 2 green (M2) to Cascina Gobba and shuttle by automatic light railway service to Ospedale San Raffaele station (additional ticket required as ATM tickets and travel passes are not valid).

Travel and accommodation

Participants will be responsible for covering their travel and accommodation costs. The below map shows some accommodation options near the course's venue.

Important information 

EBMT cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to the private property of participants. Participants are advised to take out their own personal travel and health insurance for their trip.
