On June 5, 2026, 2026 China-Europe Scientific Forum on Blood and Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Nursing Forum was successfully held in Shanghai . The event was jointly organized by Ruijin Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, the National Clinical Research Center for Hematologic Diseases-Peking University, Institute of Hematology and EBMT Shanghai Office. It was co-hosted by Shanghai Guangci Translational Medical Research Development Foundation and the MedScience, with the support of the Boxiao Foundation under the aegis of the Fondation de France. The event brought together leading experts in haematology nursing from China and Europe to build a platform for China-Europe academic exchanges and focus on challenges and cutting-edge developments in specialised transplantation nursing.

The opening ceremony was hosted by Nursing Supervisor He Yang from Ruijin Hospital, and jointly addressed by Director of Nursing Department Zhu Weiyi from Ruijin Hospital, Hilda Mekelenkamp, president of EBMT Nurses Group and Chief Nursing Supervisor Yan Xia from Peking University People's Hospital. In the opening remarks, Zhu Weiyi emphasized that the forum aimed to establish a high-level exchange platform for the field of haematology nursing both in China and Europe, facilitating the sharing of nursing philosophies and clinical practices, but also reflecting the joint efforts of China-Europe nursing teams to drive disciplinary development. Yan Xia remarked that exchanges between China-Europe nursing teams served not only for knowledge transfer, but also for mutual learning of nursing philosophies. Despite differences in healthcare systems, nursing models and practical experience across countries, all nursing teams shared the same patient-centered needs and consistent nursing goals. Hilda Mekelenkamp reviewed the history and work scope of the EBMT Nurses Group, as well as its pivotal role in fostering international nursing collaboration. She expressed the hope that more Chinese nursing teams would join the EBMT Nurses Group and actively participate in the 53rd Annual Meeting of the EBMT to be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
In academic report session, the distinguished nursing experts from both China and Europe shared in-depth insights across multiple topics, involving nutrition management, long-term care for chronic diseases, clinical decision-making, frailty assessment in elderly HCT recipients, environmental protection in haematology intensive care units, and survivorship and late effects. Following each presentation, a dedicated discussion was held where participants actively contributed their perspectives, focusing on clinical challenges and differences in nursing care between China and other countries, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere.
In future, we will continue to enhance academic collaboration between China and Europe and progressively optimize the full-cycle nursing care of Cell Therapy and HCT, contributing to the high-quality and steady advance of haematology specialty nursing.
