Ida Bremer, Paediatric Committee Chair

Since 2023, I have had the privilege of being part of the EBMT Nurses Group, serving as Chair and contributing to the Paediatric Diseases Working Party. I work as a paediatric oncology and HCT nurse as well as a nurse researcher at the Princess Máxima Centre, Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Being part of the EBMT Nurses Group provides a valuable opportunity to connect and collaborate with colleagues from around the world. I work closely with my dedicated colleagues Maria Finch from the UK and Salla Lehvonen from Finland and I greatly value the strong sense of engagement and teamwork we share.

My vision for the Nursing Paediatric Committee is to create an accessible and supportive network where nurses can share their experiences and expertise in caring for children and families facing often complex situations. By exchanging knowledge and working collaboratively, we aim to provide the highest quality of care tailored to each child and family's individual needs.

Our mission is to promote, develop and share knowledge and experience among paediatric nurses across Europe, developing countries and within the EBMT community. I am passionate about creating opportunities for nurses to connect and learn from one another through initiatives such as the Annual Meeting, educational events and the "How Do You Do It..." webinar series.

Thomas Jézéquel, Scientific Committee Chair

I have worked in the Paediatric Haematology-Oncology Department at Nantes University Hospital, France, since 2012, first as a ward nurse and, for over five years, as an Advanced Practice Nurse.

This year, I am honoured to become Chair of the Scientific Committee, following the inspiring work of Marijke Quaghebeur.

Our main mission is to shape the Nurses Group programme for the Annual Meeting of the EBMT while also contributing to the wider activities of the EBMT Nurses Group.

Each year is a new journey that begins in May. As a committee, we aim to consolidate, adapt and innovate in order to meet the expectations of nurses across Europe involved in transplant and cellular therapy care. Since we cannot achieve this alone, my aim for this group is to continue and promote collaboration with the other EBMT Nurses Group committees, the Working Party nurses and the EBMT Nurses Group Board – including our President and Secretary.

It is also to continue to increase our community with our network and social media, which would be a fantastic opportunity in the coming years to have your feedback, expectations and energy. I know I can count on my fantastic colleagues: Nilufar Sommerfeld as the Next Generation representative, as well as Sólveig Adalsteinsdóttir, Davide Bonomi, Anna Serrahima Mackay, Marijke Quaghebeur and Britt Snoek.

As I begin this new role, I look forward to continuing this collective journey with enthusiasm. If you have ideas, suggestions or topics you would like to share with us, please feel free to connect with us through our EBMT Nurses Next Generation LinkedIn Group.

Lynn Leppla, Research Committee Chair

I have been part of the committee since 2021 and took on the role of Chair last year. I am based at the University Hospital Freiburg, Germany, where I work as an Advanced Practice Nurse and researcher in the field of haematopoietic cell transplantation. My clinical and academic work focuses on developing and implementing patient-centred models of care, particularly at the intersection of oncology nursing, integrated care and eHealth.

My vision for the Research Committee is to strengthen nursing-led research across the EBMT community and to further build a collaborative and supportive research culture. Together with my international colleagues, I aim to support both experienced and early-career researchers in designing, conducting and disseminating high-quality research.

Our mission as a committee is also to bridge the gap between evidence and clinical practice. By promoting collaboration, advancing methodological rigour and fostering implementation science approaches, we aim to ensure that research findings translate into meaningful improvements in patient care across diverse transplant settings.

Angela Leather, Global Education Committee Chair

I joined the committee in December 2023 and took on the role of Chair in April 2026.

I have a long and varied nursing background of over 35 years, having started my career as a ward nurse in adult haematology and transplant care. I have over 20 years’ experience as a transplant coordinator and apheresis nurse and I have previously led and developed new clinical teams, supporting staff to grow confidently within their respective roles.

I currently work with NHS Blood and Transplant within the Therapeutic Apheresis Service (TAS), United Kingdom, where I support the development and much-needed expansion of apheresis provision across the United Kingdom.

My vision for the Global Education Committee, supported by my excellent international colleagues Liana Abu Rumileh and Marjola Gjergji, is to strengthen nursing confidence and capability within practitioners’ own countries. Our primary focus is to support nurses working in regions with more limited access to education and training compared with that available to our European colleagues.

Our mission as a committee is to share knowledge and expertise across the global nursing community. Through increasing collaboration within EBMT and at national levels, we are already seeing growing empowerment, the development of national nursing groups and the strengthening of connected leadership to support sustainable education and improved patient care.
