JACIE held its first JACIE Inspector Training Course of the year in sunny Barcelona, Spain on the 8th of March, 2024. We were happy to welcome 22 trainees from Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the UK, spending the day with us to understand the nuts and bolts around being a JACIE Volunteer Inspector.

Before even stepping into the training venue onsite for the one-day workshop, which focused mainly on the practical aspects of the inspection process, our trainees had to first complete their e-learning modules about the accreditation process and all the FACT-JACIE Standards.

We are grateful to have Prof Dr Jurgen Finke, Carlos Torrico León,MSc,BSc, Dr Olga Lopez, & our Medical Officer Dr Bruna Gotardo Salvino, who were onsite to share their tips for smooth preparation and expertise in inspection management as our fun and engaging speakers.

Our trainees will now complete an exam on the Standards relevant to their specialist areas and attend an inspection as an observer before they join the JACIE pool of active inspectors.

Antonio shares his experience with us.

"I've always wanted to do this course. However, something always happened. Finally, I did it in March 2024! The JACIE Accreditation process is one of the most important keys to improve the survival of HCT. Therefore, we have to improve our knowledge in these regulatory aspects and get deeply involved in the different aspects of the inspection. As a pediatric bone marrow transplant physician, I also want to continuously highlight the pediatric specific aspects during the inspection process.

I would like to highlight the great atmosphere of the course. The sessions are dynamic, very participative and well organized. We can share our doubts and points of view and it is very easy to interact with each other.  Also, I was the winner of the 2024 edition of Kahoot. A lot of fun too.

I am now on my way to complete my post exam training by attending my first inspection shortly. Thank you Lucia, Xiu Li and the whole Jacie team for your work and for making things easy."
