
Imperial College has huge experience in the participation within and the coordination of European Framework Projects, both in FP6 and in previous framework programmes. The College are party to over 125 successful FP6 projects, 5 of which they coordinate. Imperial College is a renowned research organisation, with an extensive administrative function experienced in supporting the management of large, pan-European collaborations.
The Haematology Department department has an international reputation in the management of haematoloical disorders by allogeneic and autologous stem cell transplantation (SCT). More than 140 transplants are performed each year principally for chronic myeloid leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma, bone marrow failure syndromes and the haemoglobinopathies. The clinical department has strong links with several research groups in both haematology and immunology. The clinicians involved in this programme include Professor Jane Apperley, Dr Ed Kanfer, Dr David Marin, Dr Eduardo Olavarria, Dr Amin Rahemtulla and Professor Francesco Dazzi.
