The main deliverables under this work package are:
- the development of a portal for information exchange in relation to clinical trials in SCT
- the design of data management projects to link information from external databases
- the production of an inventory of databases to be linked to the portal
- to establish a link with the AGNIS system
Project Report
A portal aimed at researchers in the field of SCT will incorporate clinical and statistical information, and link information held in different databases into one data management system storing relevant data on clinical trials in SCT. The portal will be incorporated within this project website so that information of relevance can be made available to the general public, with the objective of providing key facts on the progress of science in the field of SCT and ensuring widespread dissemination of project information.
This work is being carried out by Henk Jan van der Wijk and Watze Hoekstra under the supervision of Ronald Brand at the EBMT Clinical Trials & Study Office at Leiden University, with the support of the EBMT Secretariat Office in Barcelona.
From September to December 2007 a User Analysis and Software Evaluation were carried out. A Vision document and Technical Requirements document have been created identifying critical success factors for the development and implementation of the CLINT portal. A report on the software evaluation was presented to the CLINT Steering Committee and EBMT Board in January where a formal recommendation to build the portal using Microsoft SharePoint was accepted.
A test portal has now been created and is being trialled by stakeholders in order to assess the usability of the various features and identify additional requirements. At the same time the user requirements are being classified and translated into fundamental design decisions underlying the structure of the portal, which will be built over the next few months.
These CLINT project web pages have also been created using SharePoint software and the portal will be fully integrated within the website over the next year.
Work will also now begin on identification of databases storing relevant information to be linked to the portal and an inventory will be produced. The process of linking databases will extend beyond the end of the project, but it is planned to link to AGNIS (ref. WP 1) by the end of the project if feasible.
Deliverables: April 2007 – September 2009
