EBMT Honorary Membership 2008
We are pleased to announce that this year's EBMT Honorary Membership award will go to Dr. Rainer Storb for his pioneering work in less toxic forms of allogeneic marrow and blood stem cell transplants for malignant and non-malignant blood diseases.
The award will be made at the Official Opening Session of EBMT 2008 on Sunday 30th March between 18:30-20:00.
Dr. Storb has also been invited to give a special lunchtime session on the ‘Past, present and future of haematopoietic stem cell transplantation’ which will take place on Tuesday 1st April at 12:30-13:15 in Hall E.

.................................................................... EBMT-AMGEN Fellowship Awards 2008It is a pleasure to be able to make two fellowship awards this year. The recipients will be:
Haefaa Achalby for the project entitled:
‘Detection of minimal residual disease after nonmyeloablative haematopoietic stem cell transplantation in myelofibrosis by a highly sensitive PCR assay of JAK2V617F or MPLW515L/K’.
Haefaa Achalby will be hosted by Prof. Dr. Nicolaus Kröger at the University Hospital Eppendorf Bone Marrow Transplantation Centrein Hamburg, Germany.
Mieke Aldenhoven for her project entitled:
‘International multi-centre study evaluating the long term outcome of successful stem cell transplantation in Hurler syndrome patients.’
Mieke will be hosted by Robert Wynn at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital, Manchester, United Kingdom.
The awards will be made at the Official Opening Session of EBMT 2008 on Sunday 30th March between 18:30-20:00 by Dietger Niederwieser, President of the EBMT and Mary Ullenhopp, Senior Manager. Advocacy and Ally Development, on behalf of AMGEN.
