EBMT Conference in Lyon 2007
The EBMT conference in Lyon 2007 is fast approaching – many of you are in the process of developing the presentation that you will be giving, preparing the slides and thinking about how to compress what you want to see into the allocated time-frame! Others of you are discussing ideas for your posters and how best to present your project giving it maximum impact. And of course there are those of you who are still discussing on the unit who will go to the conference and how to transmit the knowledge on returning, transferring new ideas into your own particular clinical setting.
The EBMT Nurses Group Board and the Scientific Committee is collaborating very closely this year with the many active members in the subcommittees who constantly strive in bringing forward quality care and implementing it in various clinical environments.
This year will play host to the 3rd Pre-meeting Study Day. The day will focus specifically on care aspects around Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma, with experts drawing on their wealth of knowledge.
As in previous years we have been able to invite 1st class experts for the Educational session to speak on Neuroblastoma/Immunodeficiencies, Quality of Life, CLL, Nutrition, Cord Blood Transplantation, and developments of new drugs in the world of haematology. We highly appreciate the input of these professionals in the Workshops where participants will be invited to take part in discussions on GvHD, venous access devices, outpatient developments, rehabilitation, family care, and JACIE.
Alongside these events the conference programme promises excellent speakers and poster presenters with very interesting topics. They were all chosen based on their high quality abstracts and it was difficult for the Scientific Committee together with the Board to decide which abstracts should be presented orally or as a poster. I would like to draw special attention to the poster session at the end of Monday and Tuesday where you will have the unique opportunity to discuss clinically relevant topics face-to-face with the authors of the poster and get their specific insight into the topic presented. It is really worthwhile to take the time to stroll around the poster area, read the posters and exchange practice experiences with your European colleagues.
So - for those of you who have not registered yet – it is time to do that as soon as possible! It will be my sincere pleasure to welcome you on behalf of the local organising committee, the scientific committee and the EBMT Nurses Group Board to Lyon!
