Registry

Centralisation Of Registry Data Management In The EBMT Data Office - Paris

Some time ago, the EBMT Board agreed to centralise the routine registry work in one office. It was the aim to separate the routine registry data management (non-research specific) from the retrospective studies. Both are very important aspects of the registry which complement one other, but are functionally very different, require different skills and may enjoy separate funding.

As far as the registry data management was concerned, the aim of this exercise is to:

  1. 1. Improve the overall efficiency of the registry, avoiding duplication of efforts
  2. 2. Reduce (with an view to eliminating) the movement of paper forms between sites
  3. 3. Improve the quality of the data, tightening and standardising aspects relating to quality assurance
  4. 4. Increase and improve the communication between the Registry and those centres still submitting paper forms by focusing information relating to all their data on one contact point.

For many years now, the EBMT Data Office (EDO) in Paris has been in charge of the centralised management of the Med-A data. Their competence now has been expanded to Med-B. In their expanded role, this office will enter all data for all centres that are still reporting on paper, be it in the form of Med-A or Med-B. There will be no more movement of paper forms between EBMT offices. This office will eventually take a more pro-active role in quality checks and the monitoring of follow- ups. Three members of staff, under the leadership of Virginie Chesnel, will take on these responsibilities.

The ProMISe helpdesk and database design will remain in the Registry Office in London, while the registry-based research ´retrospective studies´ will remain under the jurisdiction of the working parties with staff located in different sites.

In this insert, we have provided you with a window into the EBMT registry management and research staff, hopefully, one more step into improving our communication with you, the centres.   Please Let us know what you think. Click here to view the Paris office Who's Who...
