EBMT Education
Change is upon us at EBMT Education
At the October 2008 Board Meeting it was decided that education was one of the most important tasks of our society and that increased efforts would be made in developing this area. One of the first steps was to invite the Chair of the Education Committee to attend every Board Meeting to keep an eye on educational interests and ensure that the educational activities of the EBMT are fully integrated. The Education Committee has subsequently received increased resources dedicated to coordination and promotion of educational activities
A clear demonstration of the advances being made is that following the EBMT 2009 Congress in Goteborg the slides presented in the educational sessions have been made readily available on the EBMT website. This will also be standard procedure for all forthcoming meetings. This means that those members that are not able to attend EBMT congresses, meetings and courses, or simply miss a few talks as you are not able to be in two places at the same time, will now have access to the slides of all educational presentations.

In order to highlight the new EBMT educational content that is being developed to maximum effect, an ‘EMBT ED’ branding exercise is simultaneously underway. This process is already bearing fruit in the form of the above logo.
The ‘EBMT ED’ logo is designed to be instantly recognisable as an arm of EBMT, whilst being an identifiable brand in its own right. The colour scheme draws on the royal blue and familiar map of Europe of the EBMT logo and adds a gold seal of excellence as a background. The tagline from the EBMT logo “Excellence in Science” is adapted to read “Excellence in Education”.
The new logo is just the first step in the branding exercise that will shortly be expanded to include accompanying templates for journal advertisements and simple programme leaflets to market EBMT ED meetings, workshops and training courses.
We would welcome any thoughts or ideas regarding education within EBMT and the continuous development of this important area of the organisation’s work.
