​The EBMT coordinates its scientific activities through eleven working parties. The nature of the eleven current working parties is varied, the majority of them are disease‐based: Acute Leukaemia, Aplastic Anaemia, Autoimmune Diseases, Chronic Leukaemia, Inborn Errors, Lymphomas and Solid Tumours. But others constitute the ´so called´ transversal working parties with scientific activities going across varied diseases: Immunobiology, Infectious Diseases, Late Effects and Paediatrics). 

Over the last two decades stem cell transplantation (SCT) nursing has grown rapidly and has acknowledged the need for care of the patients, their families and donors. SCT nurses are involved in the decision-making process about treatment options for their patients. The EBMT Nurses Group is involved in the care of the BMT patient. 

One major goal when collecting data on patients whose treatment includes haematopoietic stem cell transplantation is to make it possible to perform retrospective and non-interventional prospective studies. Moreover, prospective clinical trials aimed at acquiring scientific knowledge form the basis for continuously improving patient care.
