EBMT Education Committee
EBMT ED is coordinated by the EBMT Education Committee, which was founded in 1995 with the initial tasks of coordinating the production of the EBMT Handbook and an Annual Training Course on BMT, both in conjunction with ESH. The remit of the committee has since widened to include a strategic overview of the organisation’s educational output as a whole, both in terms of on-site events and online educational content.

EBMT Nuclear Accident Committee
The EBMT NAC was formed by the EBMT Board in 2002 after 9/11 to explore the use of the EBMT Centres and Haematologist, as a resource for preparedness if a major terrorist or accidental radiation incident occurred. The committee was immediately recognised as an important initiative and was invited to be a liaison group with the World Health Organisation (WHO). It has major training and educational programmes and hosts consensus meetings on best practice. Committee members lecture at international radiation preparedness meetings. The NAC has a high profile in the US. It received a grant of £50k from the UK in 2010 to assist in putting in place Radiation Preparedness prior to the 2012 Olympics. The Committee is planning to put in for major EU Commission funding.

CT2-EBMT Committee
The CT2-EBMT Committee (CT2) reviews protocols proposed by the working parties and provides recommendations to the Board regarding EBMT sponsorship of prospective clinical trials. The review consists of a scientific appraisal, statistics, finance and legal, and operational feasibility reports. This allows the Board to select relevant and feasible clinical trials for EBMT sponsorship, and ensures that the EBMT’s limited resources are well allocated. The CT2 also advises the Clinical Trials Offices in their management of the prospective clinical trials portfolio.
The committee is comprised of the chair and 3 other scientific members, an EBMT statistician, the EBMT financial controller and the Clinical Trials Operations Manager.
