Welcome to 3 new members of staff

The EBMT would like to welcome 3 new members of staff, who will have a key role to play in the development of Clinical Trials and the EBMT Registry. The personal profile below gives an overview of backgrounds and new roles within the EBMT. For individual contact details please click here:

Zoë Dolan
Director of Clinical Trials Operations
z.doran@ucl.ac.uk

The EBMT would like to announce the appointment of Zoë Doran as Director, Clinical Trials Operations, effective 1st January 2006. This post has been created to provide expertise and direction to aid the Board in the further development of the infrastructure supporting clinical trials.

Zoë has extensive experience in the management of clinical trials, both in an academic setting and the pharmaceutical industry. She commenced her research career in the ICRF unit at Guy's Hospital, London, as a clinical nurse specialist, combining her clinical responsibilities with research nursing and data management. Subsequently she was appointed Research Manager for the Breast Cancer Unit.

Recruited into the Pharmaceutical Industry, Zoë spent 4 years with Schering-Plough UK in the Oncology/Virology division where her role included supporting/managing the Investigator Initiated Study programme. Moving to their International Headquarters in the US she gained further research experience writing protocols and setting up multi-national studies in haematological oncology, solid tumours and virology.

In 1997 she joined the Kaplan Comprehensive Cancer Centre in New York City as an Assistant Director. Her primary responsibility was operational direction of the clinical trials programme of over 150 Phase I - Phase III trials, including protocol development, liaison/negotiation with the Pharmaceutical Industry, FDA and NCI, grant writing and management of all clinical trials staff.

Prior to returning the UK to take up this position, Zoë spend the last 5 years in Ireland working on a number of projects, including facilitating the development of the infrastructure for clinical trials and the strategic development of Regional Oncology Services in the South Dublin area. She also served on the expert panel convened by the Health Research Board to advise the Department of Health & Children on the Irish interpretation and implementation of the EU Directive on Clinical Trials.
