Travel Scholarships

There are three types of travel grant available to members of the EBMT-NG:

Exchange Visits

The EBMT Nurses Group (EBMT NG) offers the opportunity for two members to carry out an exchange visit between two centres situated in different European countries. The visit will focus on a specific area of care for the patient undergoing stem cell transplantation (SCT) and help to improve communication and collaboration between European BMT centres.

There are two grants available each year, each to the value of a 500 Euros (maximum). The grants are given away only in pairs, meaning that an interested person/centre should collaborate with a nurse/allied heath professional/centre from another country. These two colleagues/centres should apply together for the scholarship. If a person/centre cannot find an interested colleague then the EBMT NG Board can help to find a centre interested in the exchange programme.

In order to qualify for one of these grants the applicants must:

  • Be a nurse/allied health professional and member of the EBMT NG actively involved actively in SCT/hematology care
  • Provide a biographical data sheet
  • Give a brief description (max. 250 words) of their goals regarding the visit with specific areas of interest
  • Provide a letter of approval from their work centre which must accompany the application
  • Use the money for travel and accommodation only. The applicant must cover any costs exceeding the 500 Euros per person.
  • Share the experience within the EBMT NG as an oral presentation at the following EBMT NG conference and as an article in the EBMT NG Journal. The first half of the money will be given to the recipients after receiving the collaborative abstract for the conference, the second half will be given after receiving the article for the EBMT NG Journal written by at least both parties who received the scholarship.

Priority will be given to those submitting an innovative topic. More details can be found in the Communications & Networking section of the NG website.

Applications should be submitted to Erik Aerts, president elect of the EBMT NG before 31st April of each year.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Erik Aerts.
