Research Sub-Committee |
Introduction
The
research sub-committee is a small group of clinical nurse and research specialists
working to develop research projects, promote awareness of research activities,
and facilitate active participation in research, for EBMT-NG members. With a mandate
from the board of the nurses group, the research sub-committee has established
itself with a number of projects, presentations, and publications. (From

The group, Becky
Stone (Past Chair)3, Arno Mank (Chair)2,
Carin Potting5, Michelle
Davies4, and Simon Clare1, bring
together a range of skill sets and expertise that have enabled the group to develop
a number of successful projects. Over the last three years the group has been
responsible for two major surveys of European practice in the areas of nutrition
and recipient donor care. Both projects were presented at EBMT-NG meetings. The
Sub-group was heavily involved in the development of the AMGEN / EBMT Prospective
Oral Mucositis Audit (POMA), including 'train-the-trainer' sessions and a survey
of oral Mucositis care and management across Europe; the sub-committee recently
published a related article in the European Journal of Oncology Nursing on the
management of oral Mucositis. A graft vs. host disease (GvHD) education resource
(DVD) was developed by the research group which was recently launched at the 23rd
meeting of the EBMT-NG, in Lyon, France.
Currently
the team are working on a 'research priorities' survey, to better understand the
needs of individual EBMT-NG members. The results of this project will help to
guide the activities of the research sub-committee over the next few years as
they continue to inform members, encourage participation, and promote understanding
of research and its impact on nursing.
If you would like to become involved in the research activities of the group,
or if you have ideas for future projects, please contact one of the group members.
The research sub-committee will recruit individuals for specific projects and
is always looking for full-time members to seek election to the group.
