STWP Report 2001

Introduction

The EBMT Solid Tumors Working Party was created in 1984 by the previous chairman, Professor Thierry Philip, in order to set up a registry dedicated to patients treated with high-dose chemotherapy and autotransplantation in adult and paediatric solid tumours. The database as of December 1999 has nearly 14,000 patients - the vast majority with breast carcinoma.

The WP main activities are to:

  • Improve quality and quantity of data
  • Set up disease-specific analyses in order to evaluate possible prognostic factors
  • Launch clinical studies
  • Share common experiences in the field of auto and allo transplantation for solid tumours
  • Promote scientific sessions and meetings
  • Publish the yearly report
