FP7 Marie Curie Actions

Deadline for all applications listed below is 14th August 2007

The Seventh Framework Programme for research and technological development (FP7) is the European Unionīs chief instrument for funding research over the period 2007 to 2013. FP7 kicked off at the beginning of 2007 and is divided into 4 main programmes (each comprising several different "actions"):

  • Cooperation (32 billion euros);
  • People (4.7 billion euros);
  • Ideas (7.5 billion euros);
  • Capacities (4.2 billion euros).

There is therefore a large amount of funding which is potentially available for the support of post-doctorate researchers, visitors to EU Member States, and extended visits overseas.

The EBMT is currently promoting three new fellowship visiting schemes which fall under the umbrella of People (Click here to download the ¨People¨ Work Programme):

Centres listed as EBMT Higher Educational Institutes (HEI's) are all willing to host fellows from the above schemes. Where possible we have included research areas of particular interest to the centres to orientate you towards making the best choice.

Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development (IEF)-The Basics

What are Intra-European Fellowships for Career Development?

This action aims at supporting experienced researchers (someone with a doctorate who is at least 4 years from his first degree (no upper age limit). at various stages of their career, assisting them in acquiring new research skills (multi or interdisciplinary) or to undertake inter-sectoral experiences.

Who can apply?

Researchers from an EU Member State or Associated Country or Assimilated State (see annex 2 section 2 of full guide) who at the date of the deadline are in possession of a PhD, or having at least 4 years of full-time equivalent experience after obtaining the degree allowing them to embark on a doctorate. (Full eligibility criteria are provided in Annex 2 of the full guide)

Which research topics are supported?

All Marie Curie actions have a bottom-up approach, i.e. research fields are chosen freely by the applicants. All domains of research and technological development addressed under the EC Treaty are eligible. In this case we would imagine the research to fall under Life Sciences (LIF) for full list please click here.

How does it work?

Proposals are submitted jointly by the host organisation and the individual researcher within the specified deadline of 14th August 2007 and are reviewed by external independent experts against a series of predetermined criteria.

The contribution relates to the cost of the fellowship and directly related costs only. The host institution must cover all other costs related to hosting the fellow and the implementation of the project. Financial support will be provided to the proposals selected by the Commission, for a period of 12 to 24 months full-time equivalents. To follow a simple simulation click here.
